5 WING GOOSE BAY- Soldiers from several United States Army Reserve Units will be conducting a military exercise in multiple locations at 5 wing Goose bay from June 9 – 29 August, 2014. The exercise is called EXERCISE NORTHERN FRONTIER.
A total of 400 US forces personnel are expected to be on the ground during the exercise, split up into three rotations. During the exercise, US Soldiers will train using a variety of engineering projects including new bridges, road extensions, runway maintenance, fence repairs as well as munitions clearance. This training represents a great opportunity for our US colleagues to hone their engineering skills in a foreign, remote, northern setting.
Any persons traveling on the approved 5 Wing multi-use trail system should exercise caution due to the increased traffic on the trails and ongoing ground training in the area. Remember deviation from the approved trail while on DND property is strictly prohibited. Hazard signs are posted throughout DND property that identify areas with potential hazards that may be completely concealed; anyone entering these areas does so at their own risk and are liable for any damages to DND property that may result in entering these areas.
As part of 5 Wing’s commitment to Public Safety 5 Wing works to ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations including those governing the safe use of a motor vehicle. You are reminded that all vehicles entering DND property must comply with federal and provincial laws and regulations and you must observe the posted speed limits.
